The Stellar Awards were this past weekend in Nashville, TN. Gospel Industry’s finest all gathered to recognize the work that was produced this past year. It was a chance to gather with old friends and see some new talent break onto the scene.
Each Publishing house recognized the accomplishments of those who are signed with them and were nominated by The Stellar Award Gospel Music Academy.
GospelFab! snapped a few shots of some of my favorite Gospel Artists in the world and have brought some along to share with you. This year on the Stellar Awards for the first time will be a “Best New Artist” showcase featuring, Terrell Hunt, Jessica Greene, Jai Reed, Melody and The Murrills.

Pictured here is Jessica Greene, voted 2009′s “Best New Artist” and Terrell Hunt, “Best New Artist Nominee” along with Producer & Artist Amos Saint Jean who produced the singles that were sung by these artists on The Stellar Awards.
Jessica Greene performed at the ASCAP luncheon singles from her debut project that won her The 2009 Stellar Award for Best New Artist.
The Stellar Awards officially began with a Nominee Dinner, which honored all who were nominated for a Stellar Award with a certificate of recognition.
Time was taken out to recognize those who would receive Most Notable Awards: Vickie Winans, Darryl Coley and The Rance Allen Group. Vickie Winans gave the most hilarious acceptance speech and saved the rest for the show.
Trust me, you do not want to miss it. I really hope they do not edit what she said because she was really in rare form asking Don Johnson to re-dip her previous Stellar Awards because it had been so long since she had won a few so they had gotten a little faded. That and so much more can be seen on The Stellars, hosted by Dorinda Clark-Cole, Sinbad and Pastor Donnie McClurkin.
At the Awards Show, things were noticeably different. The Pre-Show, which was sponsored by RushmoreDrive.com was usually where a few categories were awarded. But as we sat there we noticed that major categories were being awarded. Pastor Marvin Sapp won at least four Stellar Awards in the Pre-Show alone. Aaron Lindsey won Producer of the year in the Pre-Show, Ricky Dillard won two Stellar Awards in the Pre-show, Jonathan Nelson won one Stellar Award during the Pre-Show as did Byron Cage for “Best Male Vocalist” during the Pre-Show.
