The Stellar Awards

Today the Nominations for The 2010 Stellar Awards were announced via Press Conference in Tennessee and was hosted by none other than Dr. Bobby Jones and Vickie Winans (who apparently missed her flight) and so the announcing was done by none other than Dr. Jones himself.

Well, based off of Twitter, Facebook and other online entities, there have been so many reactions to the results of the super long ballot of nominees that were issued prior to the finalized ballot.

For standout crossover artists like Coko Clemons and Dave Hollister, comments were made that SAGMA may not want them to come over to the Gospel side seeing as though they were slighted in receiving a nomination.

Phenomenal Artist Shari Jones-Moffet wrote, “Didn’t make the final Stellar ballot….. but Congratulations to everyone who did!

And although his single “I’ll Trust You” stayed at number one for several weeks over the last year, James Fortune and FIYA were not on the ballot. Member of FIYA, Dominique Qu’Ran congratulated her leader on Twitter saying, “Well I send CONGRATS 2 @MrJamesFortune @BCourtneyWilson for a job well done 2009″

Publicist, Jojo Pada said Damita Haddon was shut out of the Stellar Awards Nominations, “BOO BOO BOO. Out of 9 potential categories, NONE?? BOO”

Now whether your favorite artist won a nomination, there was certainly an uprising on Twitter about who didn’t make it. Some say there is too much politics in SAGMA, and some say those who got nominated got it justly. What do you say?

  • Henry Harris, President of the SAGMA advisory board was selling Stellar nominations on his website spiritco1.com to unknown artist like Christopher Page, 5AM Praise, Kim Ruff and Phillip Carter. Oddly enough, each of these artists advertised their projects on Henry’s website. he then obtained a list of SAGMA members (because he has access) and solicited votes on behalf of these artists. Sounds like a conflict to me. This is not a knock on these artist OR their projects becaseu they may actually be good; who knows though because we’ve never heard them on radio nor have we seen them on any chart. At any rate, Henry Harris needs to be dealt with!
